The first duty of government is to provide for the common defense. At the state level, this means adaptable and professional law enforcement. As the numbers of people and goods that come across Wyoming’s borders continue to increase, so must the capabilities and funding of our peace officers. While the federal government deserves our support in defending us against rogue nations and terror attacks at home, it also needs to be held accountable for its refusal to control our national borders and enforce immigration laws. In the Wyoming spirit of common sense backed up by true grit, I will work to make Wyoming a leader among states in the drive to require our national government to take its constitutional responsibilities seriously.
